I can never just go into a Super Target and grab what I came for and go. It’s always an adventure. Super Target has set themselves apart in many ways from their discount store competitors. They came up with their logo in 1960 and the iconic bullseye is all one has to see to know what it represents. Expect more, pay less is the promise that you will pay less for a great product. Not necessarily the cheapest price in the market, but you can get better quality items and designer products cheaper than at a grocery or department store or salon. Now offering fashion from top name designers for clothing, they also offer top brand make up, fragrances, shoes and housewares.

They have all the advantages of their competitors, but have taken a unique spin on how they maintain their customer loyalty. Their pharmacy has a reward program, in which you enroll and every 5 prescriptions your family fills, you get a 5% off card for a day of your choice, included with an additional 5% off code for the online store and coupons that can be combined. There is also a 5% off Red card and is in the form of a debit card or credit card. Using it will automatically save you 5% on your purchases. Allowing Target to track yours purchases with using it, they can send customers coupons they will use based on their purchasing behavior. Other services offered are Starbucks, bakery and deli, photography, photo printing, eye clinic, and urgent care clinic. Their new app Cartwheel is an app you can load on your computer, iPad or phone and rack up additional savings.

They have positioned themselves in the discount store market like no other competitor has been able to. They attract middle to high income, educated, fashion savvy and thrifty shoppers in an upscaled environment, while offering the same cheaper products as well. They have Market Pantry and Threshold brands, serving as their generic brand and have one dollar sections and generic clothing brands exclusive to them like Circo, Xcceleration and Mossimo.

I think Target is genius in their marketing and positioning setting them apart from their competitors. They are a one stop shop for busy people on the go, and making it a comfortable and fun experience. Their groceries, seasonal items, household products, electronics, toys, and services they provide are excellent and they have great staff equipped to service your every need and question. You can grab a cup of coffee, drop off your prescription to be filled, browse whatever fits your fancy and go grocery shopping all at once. They also change their merchandise often, so weekly trips are never the same.

They also give back to the community. In each neighborhood, they have a community give back program. Organizations can request grants for money and Target has been involved in the communities in various projects. For example, the Midway Target store came and helped work and support the Crossroads Elementary School Carnival. It was a great thing to see the employees you see in your local store working with the kids in the community. Another way Target has placed themselves in the minds of the consumers. Giving back and showing good will also supports loyal customers.

They even have Target Field and the Target Center. Target is in the fore front of the consumers mind, even when their minds aren’t on shopping. Target really have covered their bases.
